Not that I’m aware. With Google, you don’t usually get to pick and choose, just kind of have to go with the way they make you do things.

Is there any way we can ask Google to do Phone verification only to speed-up the process instead of Postcard which takes days to arrive?

Comment on How To Use a Nextdoor Business Page To Reach Local Customers by Nick Leffler https://www.exprance.com/nextdoor-business-page-reach-local-customers/#comment-6846 Mon, 06 Apr 2020 21:46:27 +0000 https://exprance.com/?p=4824#comment-6846 In reply to Michelle Gale.

No, people who leave recommendations don’t have to be local but I’m not sure how far they can be away and still have your business show up near them when searched. I’ve received recommendations clear across town nowhere near my neighborhoods and I’ve shown up. As for a virtual business that doesn’t have any geographic focus isn’t very well suited for even being on Nextdoor at all. I do have businesses in this category which I simply don’t put on Nextdoor at all.

I have a question for you: Do the people who recommend your business on Nextdoor have to be local? I have a virtual business, and the people with whom I’ve worked are all over the U.S.

You would just create a business page with your address on Nextdoor. Nobody can see you on Nextdoor until you get a recommendation anyways so just work on getting a recommendation from someone in the area you serve and that’s where your business page will be visible.

Good luck!

Comment on Yelp Advertising Review: Was My 3-Month Contract Worth It? by Nick Leffler https://www.exprance.com/yelp-advertising-review/#comment-6555 Fri, 31 Jan 2020 17:51:46 +0000 https://www.exprance.com/?p=7759#comment-6555 In reply to Bruce Jones.

I agree that for most industries it’s absolutely not helpful in any way (including our industry). That’s why I always recommend to test it with the free $300 and then making a judgment on whether you would recoup any expense and then some. For a few industries it may happen but for most, waste of money.

I was at position 3 or 4 for my keywords and got maybe 3 clicks per month. If I was #1 I would expect I would have received about 12-15 clicks. definitely not worth $300 for that. I have been in the digital marketing world and I have heard many stories about Yelp from my clients. Not one of them was positive.

Hi Rod, It doesn’t matter what account you have your business page attached to. The rules of Nextdoor apply to all which is always no promoting or “getting the word out” for your business on Nextdoor unless someone asks for a recommendation. If they’re asking for a recommendation then feel free to reply with the business. You can make recommendations for any business no matter what neighborhood your account is in and then you’ll be visible to neighbors in that neighborhood.

If you do try to post promoting your business then you will get reported because Nextdoor isn’t a promotion tool but rather a tool to help neighbors. If you’re posting an event, anybody can post it from any account so again it doesn’t matter what Nextdoor account your business page is set up with. If you’re paying for an offer then it also doesn’t matter, you will be able to select how many neighbors you want to pay to reach.

Business can’t post anything but offers and that doesn’t matter what account your business page is attached to. Don’t cancel the page, though, just keep it where it is because what account it’s attached to isn’t going to make a difference.

My neighborhood has alot more people so we thought we’d post there. Should we
a. switch the account to my Nextdoor account? if so How?
b. cancel his and see if we can set it up on mine?

We just want to get the word to our neighborhoods about our new business. We plan to grow fast but my area is the first. Thank you for advice.

Comment on The New Feature You Need To Use For Managing Yelp Ads by Claire S https://www.exprance.com/managing-yelp-ads-keywords/#comment-4807 Sat, 13 Jul 2019 18:47:35 +0000 https://www.exprance.com/managing-yelp-ads-keywords/#comment-4807 Hi, I was wondering how long ago this article was published, and also whether this is maybe a feature that Yelp is rolling out slowly? I don’t have a “Your Keywords” section in my Yelp Ads tab. What’s up with that?

Roberta if you check on other review sites including the bbb you will see that your comment is way off base. On sitejabber.com alone there are over 197 people that left 1 star review of yelp and they are all saying basically the same thing. That’s 197 people out of 209 reviews! Apparently there are two review sites on sitejabber just for yelp (their first review listing shows that out of 731 reviews of yelp, 443 of those gave 1 star, 40+ gave 2 star, etc.). I don’t know what it might take to convince you that something about yelp is very wrong, but to each his own. I have my own telling story and I bother to take the extra step by creating a website that shows screenshots of the gimmickry in action (so nobody has to take my word for it). I’m well-over 50years of age and work in the IT field so if you will not listen to the author, or me, or HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS of others, then there’s only a few conclusions that can be made of your comment.

Comment on How To Promote Your Business On Nextdoor With Events by Nick Leffler https://www.exprance.com/promote-business-nextdoor/#comment-4711 Sun, 30 Jun 2019 21:51:23 +0000 https://www.exprance.com/?p=11212#comment-4711 In reply to Carol E Swick.

Pretty much anything local can be posted as an event so surely you’ll be fine doing that. I’m sure the community would be happy that you did post it as an event so they know when and where it’ll be so they can attend.

This is a charity event to the Red Cross in giving them the space. Can we put a notice on Nextdoor as a community service by a non-profit organization and is not a religious event? Thanks Carol Swick

Comment on Is Yelp Advertising Worth The Cost For Your Small Business? by Christopher Itnyre https://www.exprance.com/yelp-advertising-worth-cost/#comment-4653 Tue, 25 Jun 2019 23:10:20 +0000 https://exprance.com/?p=4653#comment-4653 Yelp is waste of money. Sale people are tricky And don’t honor what they put in writing for example they gave me a $300 credit to sign up with them. But it turns out to be the three dollar credit is $25 a month if I spend $200 a month every month I get it was a scam not one phone call first Bill was $600. I save her not a restaurant you have a better chance of doing Google stay far away from yelp they’re not people you really want to do business with especially if you’re starting out

Not everyone loses money on Yelp, though. I wouldn’t take that as the recommendation from my experience. The recommendation from my experience is simply that you should not sign a contract with them but rather use the pay as you go option they have. And, with that test it out with the free $300 they will give you first. If you do that then you’re not risking very much and only have something to gain. That is, only if you have at least one review on your profile too.

Good luck and I hope you do at least give it a try and reply back how the results for you were.
